With a commitment to excellence and a passion for equine well-being, Erin Winds Equestrian is set to redefine standards in reproductive care.
Reproductive Evaluation: At the heart of Erin Winds Equestrian’s Equine Reproduction Services is a meticulous and thorough reproductive evaluation process. Dr. Megan Theisen brings her expertise to assess and optimize the reproductive health of each horse. Joining the team is Ute Tarasoff, a distinguished professional with a Master’s degree in Horse Breeding, enhancing the depth of knowledge and insight in reproductive evaluation
Mare Management: Recognizing the importance of comprehensive care, Erin Winds Equestrian extends its services to include mare management. This encompasses a spectrum of services designed to optimize the health and well-being of mares throughout their reproductive cycles. From nutrition and health monitoring to specialized care during gestation, mare management at Erin Winds Equestrian is tailored to ensure the optimal conditions for successful breeding.
Artificial Insemination: Erin Winds Equestrian proudly offers Artificial Insemination (AI) services under the expert guidance of Dr. Megan Theisen and Ute Tarasoff. Leveraging advanced reproductive technologies, this service aims to enhance breeding success. Whether it’s for performance improvement, genetic diversity, or specific breeding goals, Erin Winds Equestrian is equipped to facilitate successful artificial insemination procedures.
Foaling Service: The journey doesn’t end with conception – Erin Winds Equestrian is dedicated to providing top-tier foaling services. Dr. Theisen’s and Ute Tarasoff’s combined expertise ensures a vigilant and supportive environment for mares during the crucial foaling process. From pre-foaling health assessments to postnatal care, Erin Winds Equestrian stands by horse owners every step of the way.
Semen Collection and analysis: “Ensure optimal reproductive performance by confirming your stallions continued production of sufficient quantities of progressively motile, morphologically normal spermatozoa before the breeding season commences. At Erin Winds Equestrian, we offer comprehensive semen collection and analysis services to meet this need. This is crucial for stallions entering programs involving cooled-shipped semen or frozen semen banking.
In addition to routine collection and analysis, we also offer a series of ‘clean-out’ collections for stallions prior to the onset of the breeding season. These collections help maintain sperm quality and ensure peak fertility during the breeding period. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing the highest quality reproductive services to support your breeding program.”
Fresh Cooled Semen Shipment: At Erin Winds Equestrian, we provide comprehensive fresh collection and shipping services for regional stallion owners. Our cooled-transported semen service ensures your stallion’s semen is delivered in optimal condition, whether shipped via FedEx for regular delivery or commercial airlines for same-day delivery (counter-to-counter). The stallion owner is responsible for all applicable shipping, courier, and/or airline fees.
If your stallion is entering a shipped-semen breeding program for the first time, we offer a “test cool” service to evaluate how well your horse’s semen maintains its motility under standard cooling and shipping conditions. This critical step helps us identify the most suitable extender for preserving motility.
If necessary, we can also conduct additional tests or procedures, such as using different extenders, passive cooling systems, or the removal of seminal plasma, to ensure the best possible outcome for your stallion.
Once the appropriate extender and procedures are selected, the raw semen is mixed with the extender to ensure each insemination dose contains at least one billion progressively motile sperm cells. After processing, the semen is carefully packaged into an appropriate shipping and cooling container and sent to the mare owner.
Phantom Training: Training a stallion to safely and successfully mount a breeding phantom to facilitate semen collection reduces the risk of injury to horses or breeding farm personnel compared to collection off of a mare. Use of a phantom also reduces the potential for transmission of microbial pathogens.
Our staff is experienced in training a wide range of stallions to collect off of a phantom – from young novice stallions to older pasture-breeding stallions.
Stallion Management: At Erin Winds Equestrian, seasonal stallion management is a cornerstone of our comprehensive stallion services. We offer accommodation for up to five stallions at our state-of-the-art facility during the breeding season.
Trust Erin Winds Equestrian for unparalleled stallion management that ensures the success and legacy of your breeding program. Contact us today to discuss how we can support your stallion’s journey!
