Lessons & Training

Come learn from an experienced and licensed German professional who has taught and trained riders and horses, and shown successfully around the USA and Europe. Ute Tarasoff is one of the most versatile trainers the state of Wisconsin has to offer. Her programs work for one reason, she never skips a step. Bring your horse to our Riding/Training Academy for tune ups, putting on that finishing touch before you hit the arena, working out bad habits, manners, building a connection with your equine partner, etc. Before work can begin, a thorough assessment of your horses ability is conducted. Then after careful consideration, a training program is designed, milestones are set, and achievable goals are attained. The main focus is to establish a strong foundation on the horse, and with this, you can go on to any discipline or multiple disciplines you desire. Part-time and full-time services, weekly training rides, clinics at our facility or yours, and pre-purchase consultations, available upon request.

Equine Therapy

Ute Tarasoff has developed a riding program to bring disabled children and adults together with horses in a world where disabilities can, for a brief time, fade away. Amazingly, horse therapy has helped people of all ages and disabilities to dispel fear, and to build self-esteem and confidence. Often, this program gives control of movement to a child or adult who does not have much control, via the horse. The potential is incredible!

Summer Horse Camps

The Equestrian Camp is a full-day Hunter/Jumper and Dressage style program for riders who LOVE horses. All levels are welcome.

Erin Winds Equestrian strongly believes that when developing the equestrians of tomorrow, safe horsemanship and care of the animal are just as important to teach as mounted skills.

We pride ourselves in providing a fun, safe and well-rounded horse camp experience where everyone can immerse themselves in the moment and enjoy themselves in a non-competitive environment.

Breeding Program

Erin Winds Equestrian breeds top Trakehner foals out of top approved Trakehner stallions.

We use only imported/registered mares with excellent pedigrees, great temperaments and quality conformation in our program.

Each stallion/mare combination is carefully matched to insure the continuation and improvement of their great traits and excellent attributes is passed along to their offspring.

We work with our foals daily including training them to have good ground manners for safety. A focus is placed on desensitizing and imprinting our newborn foals, making them easier to train, teaching them to trust us and remaining comfortable around guests and children. Imprinting of foals has profound and lasting effects as they age into well-mannered horses ready to be trained for their disciplines.

Lease a Horse

Why Lease a Horse?

Horse leases are quickly becoming the most popular way to enjoy a horse and horse back riding. These special arrangements benefit not only the lessee, but the horse owner and the horse as well!

Owning a horse has become an expensive endeavor in today’s world. Boarding costs, travel costs, vet bills, farrier bills, tack and equipment costs, and feed and supplement costs have all been on the rise.

However, horses are athletic animals that need daily care and exercise. If owners don’t have the time to do this, their options are to hire someone to help them out, or, find someone interested in leasing.

Horse leases are a special arrangement that serve several purposes:

Benefits for the leaser:

It’s a great first stage and learning opportunity before becoming an owner
It’s a great opportunity to ride and bond with a horse for those who don’t have the financial or time availability to properly care for their own horse
For competitive riders, it can be a way to ride a show horse without having to purchase one
It’s a way for students taking lessons to get to bond with one horse instead of riding different horses in the lesson program

Benefits for the Horse Owner:

It’s a solution to ensure your horse is conditioned and maintained if your schedule gets too busy
It’s a great way to cover costs of ownership
It can offer a great opportunity to other horse lovers who are no yet ready to own a horse of their own but wish to have an owner type of experience

Benefits for the Horse:

More frequent grooming, care and exercise
More learning experiences and hours in the saddle, increasing value
More lessons, meaning more time with qualified instructors and trainers to keep an eye on health, progress and training

Some examples of pricing details are listed below, but pricing may vary per horse.

Pricing and Leasing Details

Quarter Lease

8 uses per month including use in lessons in the Equestrian Development Program (4 weekly lessons, plus 4 practice rides per month)
Base price for school horses: $380.00/month includes 4 weekly group lessons (prices may vary depending on the ability of the horse and owner’s specifications)
Additional practice rides can be purchased at $45/ride
Note private and semi-private lessons will have additional fees

Part Lease

12 uses per month including use in lessons in the Equestrian Development Program (4 weekly lessons plus 8 practice rides per month)
Base Price for school horses: $520/month includes 4 weekly group lessons (prices may vary depending on the ability of the horse and owner’s specifications)
Note private and semi-private lessons will have additional fees

Essential Care Lease

2 visits per week to groom, hand walk and spend time with a horse
Leases must have enough horsemanship skills to catch, groom and walk their horse
Can be combined with lessons or done separately
Price for essential care lease with no lessons: $160/month
Price for essential care lease with 4 weekly group lessons (one visit, one ride per week): $350/month
Note private and semi-private lessons will have additional fees

Note on Lesson Requirements:

Lessons are required for all quarter and part leases to ensure that the rider’s ability is maintained, to maintain the training level of the horse and to maintain safety aspects.
All lessee’s will be required to have an assessment ride prior to signing a lease contract in order to assess the lessee’s skill level and ability to handle the horse in practice rides

Birthday Parties

Birthday Options:

Lead-Line Rides

Erin Winds Equestrian now offers space for you to plan your child’s birthday party or family gathering!

Ideal for kids ages 4 to 12, but open to all ages (even adult parties!)

Riders take turn on different horses, led in-hand (participants do not ride on their own)
We use horses of various sizes (depending on the age of the riders)
All riding is done indoors so no need to worry about the weather (note: arena’s are not heated or airconditioned so participants need to dress accordingly)

Lead-Line Party

Lead-Line Party for 10 riders:

$225 for approximately 1 hour of rides

The 1-hr time-slot includes:

Grooming
Group photos
Safety orientation
Unlimited additional guests can watch the rides and/or join your room rental
Indoor Room Rental: Optional after your Pony Party, additional $100/2 hrs (details below)

Current Time-slots for April through September 1pm or 3pm Saturdays 12pm or 2:30pm Sundays Use the booking calendar below to put a $50 deposit on a time-slot of your choice. We will contact you once booked to determine the rest of your party details including room rental options and additional riders*

All riders must have a boot or shoe with a 1/2 inch square heel. All guests entering the barn must have closed toed shoes. For riders, long pants or jeans in the summer are suitable (no shorts or bare legs). In the winter, ski pants and winter boots, winter jacket, gloves and hats are appropriate. Helmets are mandatory and will be provided or riders can bring their own equestrian rated helmet.

All guests are required to sign a wavier before riding. See liability release below. These should be signed in advance by children’s parents. Please dress appropriately for the weather, especially children. The indoor arenas are not heated but provide protection from wind, rain and snow.
